    Miva Merchant - Getting Started
Miva Merchant is included in our E-Commerce Packages.

The Miva Merchant license that you will receive from us is good only on our network and cannot be taken with you.

To start using Miva Merchant, follow the steps below using your browser:

    1. Go to http://yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/miva?Merchant2/setup.mv
    2. Fill in the information; you will need a valid license to proceed.
    3. After filling in the basic information, you will be asked to verify paths. These URLs appear under Domain Settings.

      Non-secure URL to Miva Merchant:
      http://yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/miva?Merchant2/merchant.mv+

      Secure URL to Miva Merchant:
      https://machine.safe-order.net/cgi-bin/smiva?userid/Merchant2/merchant.mv+

Secure URL to Miva Merchant Administration:
      https://machine.safe-order.net/cgi-bin/smiva?userid/Merchant2/admin.mv+

      Root Directory for Graphics:
      /Merchant2/

      Base URL for Graphics:
      http://www.yourdomain.com/Merchant2/

      Secure Base URL for Graphics:
      https://machine.safe-order.net/userid/Merchant2/

    4. Make sure Module Paths are set as follows:

      Root Directory for Modules:
      /Merchant2/

      Secure Root Directory for Modules:
      /userid/Merchant2/

    5. Do not forget to setup your sales tax, if applicable.

This is a common step most people miss. To setup the tax, go to Stores; click-on your store; click-on State Based Sales Tax.

    6. Where to Copy (FTP) Your Graphic Image Files:

Your graphic images that will be used in the Miva Merchant Shopping Cart must reside in the /www/Merchant2/graphics/ folder. You can create a subdirectory of the /graphics/ folder and copy the images there if you like. For example, if you have a graphic file called "image1.gif" located in /www/Merchant2/graphics/images_set1/, on the product setup screen, the URL for the Thumbnail Image would be graphics/images_set1/image1.gif

NOTE: There should be no breaks or spaces in the paths above. Some of the paths above may be on two lines in order to fit them on this page properly.

In the secure calls above, "machine" must be replaced with your machine name. For example, if your machine name is "trumpet", the syntax would look like "https://trumpet.safe-order.net/...". Your machine name was included in the Welcome e-mail we sent you. Your machine name is also listed on your Web Control Panel.

For more information, see Miva Merchant - Online User Manual. This is also available via your Web Control Panel.

Troubleshooting Common Problems with Miva Merchant

After I changed the Product Code for a product, I was unable to access the product again. I get a Fatal Error.
You will need to pack your data files. Do this by selecting Stores, Store Name (this would be the store you created), Utilities, and then Pack Data Files.

How do I change the order of my products?
You can either purchase an Add-on Module from ModStop or you can download the products.dbf file and open it in Microsoft Excel and resort the list. You will then need to re-upload the file. As always, make a backup before copying over your original file.

Are there additional shipping modules available?
Yes. Check out ModStop or Miva.

I've added a lot of products. I want to keep a backup copy. Can I?
Yes. Your product information is stored in several .dbf files in several subdirectories. It is best to download the entire /home/htsdata/Merchant directory as well as your /www/Merchant directory.

NOTE: For additional assistance, please contact us or visit Miva's site at http://www.miva.com/support/. You can also download their Documentation Manual at http://www.miva.com/docs/. Their Manual is in .pdf format.
